Boyfriend - A Haiku



Another haiku for today. This one is about boyfriends and spouses and how they are not necessarily the same person. I like the subtle imagery in this one.

Damp break of the day
A former, boyfriend slithers
because of the spouse

The Majesty of Edgar Allan Poe

If you've never read Edgar Allan Poe, or at least haven't read his work since you had to back in high school, then you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of his works and give them a read. Poe was truly a master of his craft. I think a good book to pick up is Edgar Allan Poe: Complete Tales and Poems . You can get it here on Amazon . The Kindle version is only $1.19 at the time of this writing, making it a bargain. Some of the best poems and short stories he wrote are included here, including: Lenore To One in Paradise Fall of the House of Usher and of course, The Tell Tale Heart   "Villains!"
